Dr George Maher is the author of Pugnare: Economic Success and Failure, which examines the rise and fall of ancient Rome from an economic perspective. He holds a PhD in the economy of the Roman Empire from King’s College London, is a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and was Director and Trustee of the Society for the Promotion of Roman Studies. He was a Partner at Tillinghast-Towers Perrin and continues to practice consultancy.
